Editorial Policy

Everything reviewed on this blog has been bought with my own money unless explicitly stated otherwise at the top of the post. No brand has editorial input into what I write. No brand has ever seen a review before it was published. No brand has ever asked me to change a verdict and I wouldn’t if they did.

That’s not a boast. It’s just how this works. The whole point of the blog is that I’m spending my own money testing things properly and telling you what I actually found. The moment that changes, the blog becomes worthless.

Affiliate links

Some posts contain affiliate links, primarily Amazon Associates. If you buy something through one of those links I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only link to products I’ve actually used. The commission doesn’t affect the verdict and it never will: writing a positive review of something I wouldn’t recommend just to earn a few pounds is a fast way to destroy the only thing that makes this blog useful.

Every post that contains affiliate links says so at the top.

Gifted products

Occasionally companies offer to send products for review. When that happens I’ll say so clearly at the top of the post with wording like “this product was sent to me free of charge for review.” Receiving something free doesn’t change how I test it or what I write. If it’s not good I’ll say so. If I can’t be honest about it, I won’t publish the review.

I’m selective about what I accept. I cover Health & Gadgets, Sleep, Campervan Life, Dogs, Walks, Book Reviews, and dog-friendly Campsite Reviews. If it doesn’t fit one of those, I’m not interested. If it does fit and you think I’d find it genuinely useful, get in touch via the contact page. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m planning to test it.

Press trips and paid content

I don’t do press trips. I don’t publish paid-for content, sponsored posts, or advertorials. I don’t accept payment to write about something. If that changes I’ll say so explicitly and it will be labelled clearly as advertising.

What I’m actually looking for

Honestly, not much. I’m a 55-year-old with genuine insomnia who buys things, tests them properly, and writes about what he finds. Most of what ends up on here starts with me awake at 3am reading about something and deciding to find out if it’s actually true.

If you make something that fits what I cover and you think I’d find it interesting, feel free to reach out. The most likely outcome is that I’ll buy it myself if I want to test it properly. But I’m always happy to hear about things I might otherwise have missed.
